The Act relating to the production and use of genetically modified organisms is administered by both the Ministry of Health and Care Services and the Ministry of Climate and Environment. Contained use of GMOs is administered by the Ministry of Health and Care Services, whereas deliberate release of GMOs is administered by the Ministry of Environment and the Norwegian Environment Agency.
